Julie's First Show

For those who have not read the first four episodes of my
story:

My name is Julie. I am a 5'7" blond, with a good figure,
aged 22. I have just become an assistant the magician James.
James has another assistant, Mary, a 5'7" black girl, who is
a bit older than me. Mary and me have been victim to several of
James' illusions and enjoyed them, after the initial shock of
some of the predicaments.

My new job seemed to be going well. Audition on Wednesday,
practice Thursday and Friday, and we were booked for a show the
following Friday.

This week had been a hard slog, we ran through the show we had
planned at least a dozen times. Monday and Tuesday spent working
on organizing things so that we knew where we were supposed to be
and what we had to bring on each time. Wednesday and Thursday
were spent polishing things up like being smoother and more
graceful getting into and out of things, dance steps and when to
smile.

Friday we loaded the equipment into the van and I went for my
driving test which had been booking several weeks ago. James and
Mary said they could cope with unloading and setting up in the
theatre without me and wished me luck.

I was doubly nervous throughout my driving test, both for the
test and for the show that night. I was lucky enough to pass, but
I had no car so I had to take a train to the theatre. I arrived
at half past six for a show starting at eight. James' van was not
there, so I went to the stage door and asked.

"So you're Julie," said the stage-door-man,
"James said you were pretty. He asked me to show you the
dressing room and the stage."

"Thank you," I said, "Do you know when they are
due back?"

He laughed, and then frowned, "So, you don't know? He's
gone to the hospital to visit Mary. She was involved in an
accident and broke her arm in two places. He said he would be
back just after seven. Oh yes," he added as a kind of
after-thought, "He said to tell you to forget what you
practiced as he will have to do the old show he used to do with
Mary, tonight."

"But, I don't know that show. How can I do a show I don't
know?" I complained.

He replied, "Don't moan at me! It's not my fault. Anyway,
I remember when Mary did her first show here, she was actually an
audience member. I think if she can do it from cold you should be
able to do it from Luke-warm."

I apologized and found my costume. It was panties, shorts,
sports bra, crop top, dancing slippers and a spangly head-dress
like a tiara. I changed into these and went to the stage to try
and identify what I would be subjected to this evening. I found
two cabinets, a couple of large wooden crates, several lengths of
rope and a trolley loaded down with blades and swords. I could
not fit it together. I went back to the dressing room to do my
make up and wait for James.

James arrived at half past seven and was in an obvious panic
to get dressed and made up. At ten to eight I was waiting in the
wings for James. James arrived and told me to get into a bag he
had brought. I stepped into the bag and James drew it up my body
and over my head. The draw-string in the mouth of the bag was
drawn and I felt James manipulating the bag. After two minutes I
felt as loose and slack as a rag-doll. The mouth of the bag was
open and a hand grabbed me round the chest. It was then to my
horror I realized I WAS a rag-doll. He slipped me into
his jacket pocket and walked on stage to await the curtain.

While I waited, I explored the bodily sensations. The usual
tingle I get did not seem to be as intense as usual and I could
feel the fabric of the inside of James' pocket against my exposed
flesh. I could also feel that my skin did not feel like skin, but
like cotton stuffed with flock. The crease where my thighs were
folded, so my feet point backwards over each shoulder, was like
the pain of a headache when the pain-killers have not quite
kicked in.

I knew when the show had started as the bright lights were
visible out of the top of the pocket. His patter made it obvious
to me that he started by performing one of the many small feats
of sleight of hand he knew. After about five minutes during which
the audience laughed, they applauded and James bowed.

James then announced that he had his assistant in his pocket.
There were shouts of disbelief. James' hand reached into the
pocket and drew me out. Pinching the fabric of my back he held me
so that my feet rested in his other hand. He told the audience
that I was Julie and would be his assistant for the evening. When
they expressed further disbelief, he said that, of course, he
would be making me the proper size and would need two gentlemen
from the audience to help. Once two men had been selected, they
came up the steps to the stage. James asked their names and got
told they were Paul and Richard. James sent them to get the large
bag and a pair of chairs. While they were away James monkeyed
about with a truly dreadful bit ventriloquism. Paul was set to
examining the bag, while Richard checked the chairs and placed
them in the middle of the front of the stage about four feet
apart. Paul confirmed that the bag contained none of the usual
magicians stock in trade, such as trap door, hidden assistants or
secret passages. James deliberately did not touch the bag. He
asked Paul and Richard to stand on a chair each. Paul was
instructed to hold the open end of the bag by one corner and pass
the other corner to Richard. Soon Richard and Paul were stood on
a chair each with the big black bag held open between them. He
asked if they thought they could support my weight in the bag if
he tossed me into it. They said they thought they could. So James
threw my rag-doll body into the bag from about six feet away. As
I entered the bag I felt my body return to its normal shape and
size and weight. The sensation of well being were phenomenal,
which is just as well, because when my full weight hit the bottom
of the bag it ripped it from the hands of Richard and Paul and I
landed in a heap on the stage between their chairs.

I felt rather put upon so I crawled out of the bag and gave
the two volunteers a dirty look each. James thanked them and had
them applauded to their seats. I moved the chairs and the bag
into the wings with what little grace I could manage.

The next segment of the show was the dove segment. James
produced and vanished white doves with great aplomb. I stood
there like a glorified bird-table. I felt alright about this part
of the act as it was something we had practiced. The birds were
well behaved, but their toes tended to dig in until they had
settled.

When the pigeons were finished with I took them into the wings
and put them into cages. I listened a bit and heard James
spouting about The Land of the Pharaohs. So it was obvious that I
should return with the cabinet shaped like a mummy case. I
wheeled it on and with out a break in his patter James came to
help me position it near the front of the stage in the center. He
was talking about the curse on the pharaohs tombs to keep away
grave robbers. He told the audience that there were also fiendish
traps and this illusion had been designed to emulate one of the
traps.

James opened the front of the mummy box and invited another
audience member to come and examine the box and help out with the
mayhem to follow. The Audience member was a large man called
Karl, he even told us that it was spelled with a 'K'. Karl tapped
and prodded the box and announced that he was happy it was solid.
I was told that I was to play the part of the grave robber and to
get into the cabinet. I took this as a cue to pantomime being a
grave robber, exaggerated tiptoeing and constant looking about
with finger across my lips. Then I put on a yawn and spotted the
open mummy case and crept in backwards and gestured going to
sleep.

James whispered, "Very good, but don't over do it!"

I stood casually in the cabinet while James and Karl put the
front on the cabinet. The next thing I heard made me regret being
so compliant. James told Karl and the rest of the audience that
one of the traps was spikes that impaled grave robbers. He then
brought a rack, leaving Karl to make sure I did not escape. I
felt James turn the mummy case sideways to the audience so they
could watch him insert the swords through the cabinet. The first
sword was a bit of a shock, it pierced my back and came out about
an inch above my navel and out the front of the cabinet. The next
two penetrated my left and right thighs and the following two
pierced my calves. The sixth sword was the biggest surprise. I
felt a pricking at the base of my skull and my mouth dropped
open. Over my tongue I felt the tip of the sword emerge from my
mouth before leaving the cabinet through the front panel. I realized I had been immobilized
except for my arms. For some
reason I closed my eyes and brought my arms up across my chest so
my wrists crossed just below my bosom. Just as I had assumed that
position, a seventh sword went through the cabinet and my
pinioning my wrists in position. James turned the cabinet so it
faced the audience again. The next seven swords were wielded by
Karl and entered my left side and exiting the cabinet to my
right. The final sword came from above and entered the top of my
head, I assumed it carried on down as I did not feel it come out.

James told Karl the help him remove the front of the
sarcophagus the pulled the front off the box and there was a
murmur from the audience. I also heard Karl gasp, "It's a
mummy!" I opened my eyes but I could not see much as they
were covered in bandage, in fact I could feel that my entire body
was covered in bandages. I am not sure when the bandages appeared
as I was concentrating on the swords. James removed the swords
that penetrated me from behind and then replaced the front panel.
Karl was instructed to pull the swords he had inserted, as this
happened the bandages vanished again. James removed the front and
back panels and rotated the cabinet to show I was unharmed. He
told me to step out, but I could not because the sword through
the top of the cabinet into the top of my head had not been
removed. He suggested I kneel, then sit so that I could withdraw
the sword from my own head. After a false start I was sitting on
the floor of the cabinet with the tip of the sword still in my
head. James lifted the sword and I exited the cabinet. The
applause were wonderful, I felt it was well worth the discomfort
of being shut in a cabinet; besides the sexual thrill was beyond
belief, as though it was magnified by the audiences appreciation.

James handed me a note in my palm and verbally instructed me
to remove the cabinet and the swords. I removed the cabinet and
came back for the swords. James was doing a find the lady trick
with another member of the audience, this time a woman in her mid
twenties. He was using jumbo cards and a Perspex frame to rest
them on. While this happened a curtain closed and I was behind
it. I quickly read the note. It said, "Place trunks, rope
and pipe as on plan. put reel of duct tape on right hand trunk
and stand (posed) on the left hand trunk." I rapidly moved
everything into place and just in time stood on the left hand
trunk. The curtain opened.

James looked a bit surprised, because I had forgotten that on
stage it is the audiences left and right that counts. James
introduced me to Arthur, George and Michael, three more audience
members that he had enrolled to aid in this illusion. They were
asked to examine the chests, pipe and rope. They soon stated that
they could find no gimmicks. Some time was spent threading the
rope through holes in the left trunk then the eight feet of pipe,
which had about a 2 inch internal diameter and through holes in
the other trunk. George and Michael were instruct to take hold of
each end of the rope and make sure that despite being threaded in
and out of box one through a pipe and in and out of box two it
was still the same complete rope.

I was instructed to step into the trunk nearest Michael and
pick up the rope inside the trunk for Arthur to examine. Practice
meant that I quickly and gracefully stepped into the chest. I
knelt in the trunk and presented the rope for Arthur to inspect.
Arthur with James' help tied my wrists and hands together using
the section of rope, then James picked up the reel of duct tape
and wrapped that round my tied hands and wrists. Arthur confirmed
for the audience that I could not detach myself from the rope.
Arthur was told to hold Michael's end of the rope and Michael was
sent to help George pull when the time came. I realized at this
point that the intent of the illusion was to pull me from one
trunk to the other through the inch holes in the sides of the
trunks and a two inch pipe. I must have looked very nervous,
because James quickly shut the trunk lid on me and whispered,
"Stop worrying you won't feel a thing." I heard James
step onto the trunk I was shut inside and give his volunteers
their final instructions. Arthur he told to pay out the rope as
it was needed but not to let go completely. He told George and
Michael to pull firmly but not to jerk the rope. On James'
instruction the pulling began. I felt the tension drawing my tied
and taped hands to the small hole in the side of the chest. As I
watched, by the small amount of light that infiltrated the lid,
the bundle of tape and then my arms melted into the rope. I realized
this was the gimmick I would merge with the rope and
then re-emerge in the other trunk. To help the process, I tried
to position myself so I lay along the rope. My body continued
merging with the rope, as the section marked with the tape
disappeared from view. My head melted into the rope just in time
to pass through the hole. I felt the edge of the hole scrape up
my rope-merged length. When I had passed out of the first trunk I
felt the tension stop. I heard James instruct his assistants to
open both trunks to see where I was. George opened the trunk
nearest him and stated that I was not in there. Arthur opened the
trunk I had been pulled from and expressed surprise that I was
not still there. I heard the lids of both trunks slam and the
pulling re-commence. I felt my tape-bound hands emerge into the
second trunk and the scrape of the edge of the hole in the second
trunk continued down my body until it reached my waist at which
point I began to de-merge from the rope and my bundled up hands
reached the exit hole in the second trunk so George had to stop
pulling. I realized I was in the wrong position my upper body had
separated from the rope but my legs were still merged with the
rope and still inside the pipe. I had to do something quick as
James was going open the trunk any second. I tried to roll over.
Fortunately, I brought just enough of the rope into the trunk by
this maneuver so I could become a full human again. I was back
to my self just in time to emerge, slightly flushed, elegantly
from the trunk with my hands still bound together and onto the
rope. Once Arthur had verified that I was still bound as before,
they were dismissed back to the audience. James took a knife to
the duct tape and untie the rope and I was allowed to take a bow.

James continued the act, while I moved the trunks and stuff
back into the wings and position the other cabinet center stage
and waited for the curtains to re-open. I took the opportunity to
examine the cabinet. It was a classic mis-made girl cabinet. I
rushed into the wings and wheeled on the trolley with the blades,
just as the curtains opened.

James introduced the illusion, and told the audience that
since that scoundrel had revealed the secret of the easy version
of the mis-made girl, professional magicians such as him had to
come up with novel twists to prove that they did not use that
method. He handed me in to the cabinet that I had been opening. I
stood there casually as he shut the doors and the opened the
panels in the doors to show I was still there. The next thing he
did surprised everyone, he unclipped the panels and dropped them
on the floor, so I was going to be on full view throughout the trick.

Each blade was inserted. First through my knees, then through
my waist and finally through my shoulders. He then pointed out
the so called masked magician had made an error, he had not put
in blades at the bottoms of the section to prevent the supposed
severed parts from falling out of sections. He quickly inserted
the second blades at each division. Once my sections had been
unstacked I lost track of where my parts, although I do know I
was stacked in three different ways.

When James had finish demonstrating stacking he restacked me
correctly, with the exception that put on my head backwards. He
opened the doors in the front of the restacked cabinet and I
managed to step out of it despite being not quite sure whether I
was stepping forwards or backwards. I bowed both forwards and
sideways and the stumbled off of the stage. I was dreadfully
disoriented. I reached up and tried to turn my head the right
way. Thankfully, a few clicks in my neck later I was looking
forward to life again. I sat and relaxed on one of the trunks and
watched James manipulate a cane that seemed to float in midair.

When the cane had been vanished, James beckoned me back on
stage.

"I have made it a tradition to vanish my assistant at the
end of my act and tonight will be no except," announced
James, "But tonight it will be a slow vanish. You, ladies
and gentlemen, will be able to watch Julie vanish before your
very eyes."

He took out three surgical rubber gloves, one he handed me to
put on, the other two he put on himself. I put the glove on my
right hand. He then produced a large jar containing nothing that
I could see, but the outside said "Vanishing Cream".
James took a liberal handful of the nothing in the jar and
applied it to my left arm up to my elbow. It felt like suntan
lotion, but I still could not see it. The familiar you are not
there tingle warning me what to expect but seeing you left
forearm fading from existence, is quite worrying. James continued
to apply the ointment all the way up my arm until I had no
tangible left arm. He then offer the jar to me to apply some. He
suggested in a whisper that I rub some into my belly. I took some
of the stuff in my gloved hand and made circular rubbing motions
on my belly and soon there was a circular hole through my
mid-riff where all I felt was the tingle. James took the chance
to look at the audience through the hole and then stuck his arm
through and waved. He then apply some vanishing cream to my left
leg until that had vanished. Even though he wore a rubber glove
James' touch was sensual and I was quite enjoying having the
vanish happen. He then stepped into the wings to get a chair,
which help me sit on in my reduced state and proceeded to vanish
my right leg. He then vanished my shorts and their contents and
the rest of my mid-riff. I now rested with the bottom of my ribs
on the seat of the chair and my remaining limb hanging down. He
then rubbed the cream into my neck so my head floated above my
shoulders with no apparent means of support. James took hold of
my gloved hand and spread the vanishing cream up my right arm
when that had vanished he pocketed my still gloved right hand. He
followed that by vanishing my head. As my entire sensation went
into limbo of tingling I felt my chest vanish, but I don't know
how he did that. The only source of real sensation I had left was
my right hand, which nestled in James' jacket pocket, but I could
feel the appreciation of that audience.

Some time later I felt someone remove my still gloved hand
from James' pocket and place it on something hard, cool and knobby.
Moments later I felt the gentle prickle of a warm shower
as I gradually appeared, because the vanishing cream was being
washed off. When I was completely re-appeared I stepped out of
the shower dripping wet, but happy. I was still in costume.

There, waiting for me, were James and Mary. James smiled and
congratulated me on a performance well performed. Mary produced a
pen and asked me to sign her plaster and told me that I had
performed beautifully and she knew, because she had been in the
audience.

I think you're probably right: the division illusions are inherently sexy, so people probably concentrate on those (I certainly do ;)), so it's definitely refreshing to read about a more original illusion - and that was a really good one
